As Eli Morrow gathers his forces, even S.H.I.E.L.D. director Jeffrey Mace has to admit he’s out of his league. Agent Phil Coulson, on the other hand, is right at home — and he knows exactly what to do. In a new clip from “The Laws of Inferno Dynamics,” the midseason finale of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”, Coulson and May debrief Director Mace on the Morrow situation, and the intel revealed at the meeting may have huge ramifications for Holden Radcliffe and AIDA, his Life Model Decoy.
Fans will recall that Radcliffe wasn’t always on the side of the angels. In the Season 3 finale, he was pardoned for his involvement with the deadly Inhuman Hive, but on one condition: no experimenting outside of S.H.I.E.L.D.-sanctioned projects. Of course, he’s never been a stickler for rules, and creating AIDA broke the protocol he’d agreed to. When Coulson reveals to Mace that AIDA is an android that Radcliffe created, Mace quickly reminds Coulson about the last AI the Marvel Cinematic Universe encountered: Ultron. As such, he demands that AIDA be dismantled — but only after she helps S.H.I.E.L.D. take down Eli Morrow.
Mace takes another big step in the meeting when he okays Daisy for the operation; after all, he hasn’t been shy about his feelings about Daisy. Both he and the press consider her a dangerous Inhuman vigilante, so it’s a big risk for S.H.I.E.L.D. to be seen working with her, especially considering that the organization has just recently reemerged in the public eye.
“The Laws of Inferno Dynamics” will pick up where “The Good Samaritan” left off, in that it will follow Eli’s plan through to completion. The episode in between — “Deals With Our Devils” — focused more on Coulson, Fitz and Robbie, who were stuck between dimensions, and revealed a handful of new clues about the Ghost Rider. While S.H.I.E.L.D. focused on rescuing their own, Eli has had time to regroup and create whatever nefarious device he wanted to in the meantime. Fortunately, it seems Robbie and the Ghost Rider will give him a little trouble along the way.
Called “Ghost Rider’s Last Stand,” “The Laws of Inferno Dynamics” airs on Tuesday, December 6.
Airing Tuesdays at 10 pm ET/PT on ABC, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Chloe Bennet as Daisy “Quake” Johnson, Ming-Na Wen as Melinda May, Iain De Caestecker as Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie and more.
