Ahead of its big two-hour premiere tonight, ABC has released a behind the scenes featurette for "Agent Carter." The clip features interviews with showrunners and executive producers Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters as well as series star Hayley Atwell, who returns in the role she first played in 2011's "Captain America: The First Avenger."

"She's pretending she works in a telephone company to the outside world," says Atwell of Carter's status quo, "when in fact she's working for the S.S.R." As the featurette demonstrates, the Strategic Scientific Reserve in 1946 was not exactly an ideal place for women to work; the highly capable Carter is shown stuck with desk duty while sirens blare and the men rush off on a mission.

"She's not being utilized," co-showrunner Tara Butters says in the clip. "She is kind of looked at as a secretary more than an actual agent." As Peggy says in new footage from the premiere, "I connect the calls but I never get the chance to make them, do you know what I mean?"

Interview footage with Dominic Cooper, who returns as Howard Stark in the premiere, reveals that Peggy's wandering days are about to come to an end. The brilliant inventor hires Carter to help clear his name -- an endeavor that, as the footage reveals, involves blonde wigs and stapler fights. You can check out the entire featurette below.

"Agent Carter" premieres with a two-hour block of episodes tonight on ABC. The premiere event will also include the debut of the trailer for Marvel's "Ant-Man" feature film.
