Californication actress Addison Timlin is in talks to star opposite Anton Yelchin in Stephen Sommers' adaptation of Odd Thomas, Variety reports.

Based on the popular series of thrillers by Dean Koontz, it follows a 20-year-old short-order cook who can see the spirits of the dead. Odd’s first adventure, in the 2003 novel Odd Thomas, involves finding the killer of a young girl and averting the disaster that threatens the small desert town of Pico Mundo, Calif. The character appeared in three sequels — Forever Odd, Brother Odd and Odd Hours — and two graphic-novel prequels.

Timlin, who appeared in the 2005 thriller Derailed, presumably will play Stormy Llewellyn, the manager of an ice cream shop whom Odd views as his destiny. Lily Collins reportedly was considering the part before she landed the lead role last week in Tarsem Singh's Snow White.

Filming is set to begin May 2 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
