Adam West Pitches Cameo Idea for Ben Affleck’s Batman Movie

For a generation of fans of the joyfully camp 1960s TV series, Adam West is “Batman,” and while the veteran actor has returned to the role in the recently released animation “Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders,” West is adamant he won’t be putting the costume back on for a live-action return to the character.

However, the actor doesn’t rule out making an appearance in Ben Affleck’s upcoming solo Batman project, now tentatively titled “The Batman.” In fact, in a recent interview for comicbook.com, the actor revealed that he even has a suggestion for what form a possible cameo could take, and it is a long way from the light-hearted stuff of “Batman 66.”

“It would be wonderful to play Bruce Wayne’s father coming back.” West opined, “You know he was murdered, but coming back one dark and stormy lightning-riven night through a library window. Bruce Wayne is there thinking, ‘I’ll never solve this. This is the most difficult thing in my life.’ In comes old dad, like a bat, almost.”

Whether or not this idea will appeal to Affleck as he assembles his Batman script remains unknown, but the actor/director has already shot down at least one one other cameo suggestion from a fellow actor. Anna Kendrick, Affleck’s co-star in the action thriller “The Accountant,” jokingly suggested herself as a possible Robin in a recent MTV interview. She even went so far as to put together her own costume, only to be told “I’m not sure we’re going to have a Robin.”

“Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders” is available on Digital HD now and will be released on Blu-ray on November 1.

Affleck will next appear as Batman in director Zack Snyder’s “Justice League,” alongside Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher. It arrives in theaters November 17, 2017.
