Mayor West will remain in office for a while longer on Fox's Family Guy.

Although Adam West, who passed away June 10 at age 88, is best remembered for his role as Batman, he enjoyed a lengthy career as a voice actor that includes roles on such recent animated series as The Fairly OddParents, The Batman and, most notably, Family Guy. On the latter, he's appeared in more than 100 episodes as the mayor of Quahog, Adam West, a role that will continue past his death.

Executive Producer Steve Callaghan said West had already recorded five episodes set to air during the upcoming 16th season.

"He’s such an integral part of the series that it never even occurred to us to take [his episodes] out," he told Entertainment Weekly. "I would almost feel like that was somehow not properly honoring him. I think the proper way to honor him is to keep the character in the show."

Family Guy isn't the only place that fans can get more of West's comedic sensibilities, as DC Entertainment similarly released a previously unaired episode of the recently canceled NBC sitcom Powerless, featuring a guest appearance by West. In addition, his Bright Knight will also make another appearance in the animated Batman vs. Two-Face, a sequel to the direct-to-video Batman: Return of the Caped Crusader. West had already recorded his role by the time of his death.

Family Guy returns for its 16th season Sunday, Oct. 1, on Fox.
