Fans were treated to multiple mid-credits scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but the one that stood out most was Ayesha's unveiling of a cocoon that points toward Adam Warlock's introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, nearly three months after the Marvel Studios sequel arrived in theaters, we get a closer look at the object, courtesy of concept artist Ian Joyner.

In the scene, a downtrodden Ayesha (played by Elizabeth Debicki) revealed the storage unit holding a being she described as "more powerful, more beautiful and more capable of destroying the Guardians of the Galaxy. I think I shall call him ... Adam."

The character was introduced in 1967 as "Him" in Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four #66-67 before his name was changed to Adam Warlock in 1972. He was tied to the Soul Gem in the comics, and ran afoul of Thanos, as well as Magus, an evil version of himself from the future. With Warlock not part of Avengers: Infinity War, it remains to be seen whether he will debut into its sequel or in James Gunn's third Guardians of the Galaxy film.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stars Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Baby Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Michael Rooker as Yondu Udonta, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, Chris Sullivan as Taserface, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Glenn Close as Irani Rael and Kurt Russell as Ego.
