Late last year, news broke that Activision and the development team at High Moon Studios were , the long awaited sequel to the hit 2010 release "War For Cybertron." Now, several weeks after seeing the first teaser trailer for the game on the Spike Video Game Awards, the companies have released all-new screenshots from "Transformers: Fall of Cybertron," giving gamers a better idea of what kind of combat they can expect.

As with its predecessor, the majority of the game takes place on the planet Cybertron, where the Autobots and Decepticons clash in a battle for control of their homeworld. There are some significant changes this time around, as High Moon Studios is aiming for a much darker edge in terms of design and gameplay, introducing bigger and badder bots. Among them is Grimlock, the much beloved Dinobot who, once he gains enough power, can transform into an unstoppable, fire-breathing T-Rex, stomping and destroying everything in sight. But the Decepticons have their own massive weapons, including the Combaticons, who can form the mighty Bruticus.

The game will let you once again choose sides, either liberating Cybertron with the Autobots or completely overtaking it with the Decepticons. Multiplayer gameplay will also make a return, allowing players to choose sides and take part in online skirmishes via Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. We should have more information on this mode, as well as others, very soon. For now, enjoy the screens and count the days for the Transformers' much anticipated return.

"Transformers: Fall of Cybertron" is set for a Fall 2012 release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
