Here is the latest in our year-long look at one cool comic (whether it be a self-contained work, an ongoing comic or a run on a long-running title that featured multiple creative teams on it over the years) a day (in no particular order whatsoever)! Here's the archive of the comics posted so far!

Today we look at a clever little one-shot from the late 1990s starring Batman and Arsenal by Devin Grayson, Rodolfo Damaggio and Robert Campanella called, appropriately enough, Batman Plus Arsenal...

DC's Plus books were a great idea. Have team-ups with heroes who wouldn't normally team-up and, well, there you go. They also got some good writers and good artists on the books (Mark Waid did one, I believe, Christopher Priest did two, I think). It was a fun idea.

This one was one of my favorites because of the inspired oddity of teaming Batman up with Roy Harper (although, lord, that Arsenal costume was awful).

Rodolfo Damaggio is a TREMENDOUS artist, and the movie industry's gain (he is a designer and storyboard artist) is really the comic industry's loss. Just check out the amazing storytelling skills he exhibits in these pages...

Meanwhile, Devin Grayson for awhile there had an exceptional run of Roy Harper stories. I was really pumped for her Titans series, but I have to say, I was a bit disappointed when she actually got a hold of the character on a permanent basis. Her work on his mini-series and this one-shot were a lot better.

Check out this sequence. She really seemed to "get" Roy and give him a compelling and intriguing personality...

So yeah, an action-packed issue with great art by Damaggio and Campanella, a fun story by Grayson and good character interactions between two characters who, at the time, nearly NEVER interacted. Good stuff.
