Here is the latest in our year-long look at one cool comic (whether it be a self-contained work, an ongoing comic or a run on a long-running title that featured multiple creative teams on it over the years) a day (in no particular order whatsoever)! Here's the archive of the moments posted so far!

Today we conclude our multi-part look at the various notable recurring features in Strange Adventures over the years - today's spotlight is on John Broome and Murphy Anderson's Atomic Knights!

Enjoy!

We finish with one of my very favorite recurring features in Strange Adventures - the Atomic Knights!

John Broome and Murphy Anderson really outdid themselves with this brilliant little series set in a post-nuclear war Earth where, in a world where mutated creatures run amok and civilization is non-existent, a group of heroes find a certain code of chivalry and explore this brave new world while helping others!

Here's their origin from their first appearance in Strange Adventures #117...

After meeting a new friend, Gardner discovers something important...

After the Atomic Knights' inaugural battle, they make an interesting discovery...

And there you have it - a brilliant setup that is easily revisited over the years for many different plots.

Here is a glimpse of a few of them...

and, of course, the giant Dalmatians that they rode as steeds...

The Knights popped up again in the late 1970s, but since then, every time they pop up it tends to be in some sort of cynical story - no more innocent acts of heroism.

It's too bad, as these original stories were top rate.
