This time last year, CBR News profiled brave Aidan Reed - a six-year-old Kansas comics fan stricken with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. At that time, many of Reed's medical bills were being supported through the sale of the boy's art where comic characters and specifically movie monsters provided a muse.

Since that time, Aidan's treatment has continued and the financial needs of his parents have mounted as well. In response, the comics community has rallied behind the boy launching an art auction of original pieces inspired by Aidan's favorite movie monsters to help pay the family's expenses.

"As a father, it was both heartening and depressing to see someone so young working so hard to help pay for his own medical bills," said Jon S. Lewis, author and writer DC/WildStorm's "Free Realms." "He's an amazing young man, and I wanted to do whatever I could to help."

With the help of Mike Mignola's wife Christine, Lewis and the Reed family have launched a series of auctions for original monster art by the likes of Mignola, Bill Sienkiewicz, Walt Simonson, Guy Davis, Dave McKean, Eric Powell, David Peterson, Dan Brereton, Katie Cook, Joe Phillips, Bob Fingerman and Bobby Chiu.

The auctions can be found at this dedicated eBay page, and the bidding continues through this evening. 100% of the proceeds will go to paying for Aidan's medical treatment, which continues today as his leukemia has gone into remission. "Every time he sees some new monster he will make a costume out of his collection of accessories and play that character for a week or so," said Wylie Reed, Aidan's father in a statement.
