Heat Vision reports that director Noam Murro will helm the “300” prequel focusing on Persian emperor Xerxes. Murro is known for the quirky dramedy “Smart People,” which is more about odd characters talking than greased men spearing each other to death … but I suppose that’s how one charts their career in Hollywood these days.

According to Deadline, Fox has picked up the rights to Archaia’s forthcoming graphic novel, “Rust: Visitor in the Field.” They write that the story takes place on a “family’s farm in the American heartland, where Jet Jones crashes into the barn, pursued by a giant decomissioned war robot. The heartland has been devastated by a world war and the family tries to decide if the kid with the jet pack is the key to their survival.”

Chris Evans tells MTV News a little bit about working with director Joss Whedon:

Meanwhile, Dis Fan Review (via Comic Book Movie) hears word that Pepper Potts — in the form of Gwyneth Paltrow — will make an appearance in the film. “According to our sources the famous Hollywood leading lady made an extremely quiet entrance into New Mexico on Monday or Tuesday and was said to have definitely departed by Thursday, making an equally quiet exit. A source close to the production say’s that somewhere in that time frame [she] spent two entire days shooting her appearance in the film,” they write. “Our sources also indicate that her part in the film is more than just a glorified cameo.”
