3 Chicks Review Comics – Episode 012

Sorry for the delay and confusion folks…having some technical difficulties over here…but finally…IT’S EPISODE 012!

CLICK HERE TO LISTEN, DOWNLOAD, AND/OR SUBSCRIBE TO ITUNES NOW.

Inside this episode! We review the second issue of Brian Wood and Ryan Kelly’s New York Five #2, the Vertigo mini-series that follows up on their popular Minx book The New York Four from 2007.  It’s 32 gorgeous pages for $2.99…talk about holding the line!  We also take a look at American Vampire writer Scott Snyder’s exceptional story in Detective Comics #874 with crazy good art by Francesco Francovilla.  The Hot Topic this week is a discussion around Women’s Origins in comics and includes a discussion of The Killing Joke among others.  Maddy picks this week’s CHICK OF THE WEEK, is a massively talented rising star in comics, a creator that we all love, from her mainstream to her independent work, and including her fantastic ongoing superhero strip and now infamous short about a grouchy character that’s the best at what he does.  Plus everyone’s pick of the week.

Episode links!: Wolverine likes his special Canadian eggs!; The Adventures Of Superhero Girl; Ice tries to reinvent herself hilariously; Friends With Boys!; Twitter!; New York 5 Interview!; Kelly’s New York 5 #1 Review!; also possibly the best thing I’ve ever seen – Batman and Kittens!

3 Chicks Review Comics is a podcast featuring female comics lovers and bloggers Sue from DC Women Kicking Ass, and Maddy from When Fangirls Attack! along with me, Kelly Thompson. Tune in weekly to CSBG Tuesdays at 2pm as we review comics, and discuss hot topics of the week. Don’t forget to subscribe to our cast via iTunes, so you never miss an episode (the subscribe button is on the main page on the bottom right).  In addition to the blogs above, you can also follow us all on twitter as well: Kelly, Maddy, and Sue. Special thanks to Nik Furious for our awesome 3 Chicks theme song.

*As always beware of spoilers if you haven’t read the books in question!
