3 Chicks Review Comics – Episode 005

It’s Episode 005!

Inside this episode! Welcome back to our first cast of the new year and after a two week hiatus!  It’s also our first ever “special episode” featuring not only a slew of picks for Best of 2010, but also a special guest host all the way from Germany – Lisa aka Ragnell from WFA, Dispatches From The Fridge, and Written World, AND a special opening theme by Nik Furious.  CAN YOU STAND HOW SPECIAL THIS ALL IS?!  Rather than spoil all our picks, I’m just going to link to a bunch of different awesome stuff that we talk about in the cast, and you’ll have to tune in to see what gets talked about where.

LINKS GALORE: Hark! A Vagrant, His Face All Red, Quarter-Life Crisis, Kate Beaton’s Rogue, and MORE Kate Beaton’s Rogue, Olgaf (NSFW disclaimer!), secret (okay fine, totally not secret) evidence that leads me to believe that Ragnell either has two favorite covers or is lying in this podcast…GASP!, a link to the Valkyrie variant Secret Avengers #6 cover by Jelena Kevic Djurjevic that I mention, sexual harassment at Dragon-Con 2010, Gabby Schulz’s ‘How Every Single Discussion About Sexism…’ comic,, and a post I wrote about it and the Beaton Tweet Kerfuffle, a link to Ragnell’s write up of the Rogue/Sentry cluster-fuck, Raina Telgemeier’s Smile, a link to the Silver Age Women Fantastic Fangirls post mentioned, and a post about Greg Rucka’s departure from DC. If all of this wasn’t enough for you, you can check out expanded picks for me on my Best of 2010 She Has No Head! post, and an expanded list for Sue from her DC Women Kicking Ass Blog.  Whew. LINKS!

Come back next week for a return to our regular reviewing schedule – two comics, a hot topic and three picks of the week!

3 Chicks Review Comics is a podcast featuring female comics lovers and bloggers Sue from DC Women Kicking Ass, and Maddy from When Fangirls Attack! along with me, Kelly Thompson. Tune in weekly to CSBG Tuesdays at 2pm as we review comics, and discuss hot topics of the week. Don’t forget to subscribe to our cast via iTunes, so you never miss an episode (the subscribe button is on the main page, on the bottom right).  In addition to the blogs above, you can also follow us all on twitter as well: Kelly, Maddy, and Sue. Special thanks to Nik Furious for our awesome 3 Chicks theme song – and if you liked today’s vocal version head on over to Nik Furious’ post about the making of the theme and an opportunity to download it for yourself.

*As always beware of spoilers if you haven’t read the books in question!
